Meet Tim Rooks
Tim Rooks is a candidate for Superior Court Judge. He was recently appointed to serve on the Superior Court for Judicial District 36, covering Burke and Caldwell counties. He is running to be elected in the March 3rd primary.
Professional Experience
Mr. Rooks has extensive experience in District and Superior courts, having practiced an array of law including family law, adoptions, DSS petitions, termination of parental rights, personal injury, construction disputes, civil claims, and comprehensive criminal defense, including serious felonies and capital murder cases. Since 2000, he has run the Law Office of Timothy J. Rooks in Morganton, NC.
Before establishing his private practice, he served as an Associate Attorney in the Construction Litigation Department at Boose, Casey, Ciklin et al. in West Palm Beach, FL, where he represented government entities and general contractors in large public and commercial construction projects and drafted complex AIA construction documents.
Expertise and Leadership
Mr. Rooks is a Certified Family Financial Mediator (since 2008) and an Arbitrator in small claims civil cases. His track record in dispute resolution focuses on critical issue identification and cost-benefit analysis. He has demonstrated leadership as a previous president of both the Burke County Bar Association and the District 36 Bar.
Education and Personal Life
Mr. Rooks earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Wake Forest University School of Law (1990-1993) and holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Political Science from Drew University (1986-1990).
He is married to his wife, Jeri, for over 30 years, and they have three adult children and one grandchild.
